Delta Gamma participates in four or five exchanges per year. Exchanges give a sorority and a fraternity a chance to converge for a night of appetizers, socializing, and dancing. Over the past two years we have had exchanges with a variety of the USC fraternities.
Each exchange has a theme that the fraternity and our sorority mutually decide upon and then dress in accordance with. Some of our themes for past exchanges include: I love the 90s, An Affair to Remember and High School Cliques.
The first event of the year, Semi-Formal is a great way to kick off a new semester with a fun night of dancing and socializing. This is an opportunity for DGs to invite a date to a Delta Gamma hosted event.
Want to go back in time? DG Decades will take you there! The new members dress up in the neon colors of the 1980s while the other members of Delta Gamma dress in the styles of the 70s, 50s and 20s. The night is swinging, peachy, groovy and rad all at once. The night is complete with dancing, laughter and fun!
Anchor Ball is the first invite of the Spring semester and gives Delta Gammas and their dates a chance to get all dressed up. The event was is a night to remember for the stunning DGs and their dates, and was held at legendary LA restaurant Yamashiro.
Luau is the final invite of the year and gives everyone a chance to enjoy the warm weather of Los Angeles in casual island fashion. Leis, hula skirts and smiles are typical of this event as everyone celebrates the conclusion of a long year of hard work. Aloha!
USC hosts Parents Weekend each year in early October. This weekend gives parents a chance to attend classes, participate in scheduled events on campus, cheer at a football game and see their daughters new sorority! Delta Gamma reserves a DG Only section for DGs and their families at both the morning brunch on campus and at the football stadium. Parents are able to meet other DG families and enjoy a wonderful weekend.
Every Spring, Delta Gamma hosts Mother-Daughter Day. Last year, Moms and DGs enjoyed some great bonding time as they took on the kitchen together in a cooking class. This is a great opportunity for Mothers (or Aunts, Grandmothers, Sisters or Guardians) to meet other DGs and experience Los Angeles.
A Day at the Races is so popular with Dads and Daughters that we have done it for the last three years and are planning for a fourth trip this year. Fathers (or Uncles, Grandfathers, Brothers or Guardians) and DGs make the short trip to Santa Anita Park to enjoy lunch and a day of horse racing. Some Father-Daughter pairings have even gotten lucky betting on horses. Win or lose though, everyone agrees that this event is a great chance to bond with Dad and have fun with DGs.
To celebrate USC Homecoming, Delta Gamma organizes a tailgate with one fraternity at USC. This year we had homecoming with Sigma Chi. Together Delta Gammas and the men of Sigma Chi barbequed on campus before walking to the stadium to watch the National Champion Trojan football team lead USC to another victory. The day-long event is a terrific way to celebrate USC and enjoy Greek Life. Fight On!
Every fall DGs pack their bags and make the road trip from LA to Northern California to support the Trojans as they take on either Cal or Stanford. The Weekender is a longtime tradition that gives USC DGs a chance to explore San Francisco, go to an away game, and make lasting memories.
